Methodology & Assumptions

FinCalc calculators and articles are built to help you understand financial scenarios. This page explains what we include, what we do not include, and how we keep data current.

1) Calculator scope

  • Outputs are estimates based on the inputs you provide.
  • We model common rules and simplified assumptions rather than every edge case.
  • Results are for education only and are not personalized advice.

2) Data sources

We use publicly available guidance from government and regulator sources (for example, IRS and SSA rules), and reputable financial publications. When a source changes, we update the assumptions and note the effective year.

3) Update cadence

  • Tax brackets, wage bases, and benefit parameters are reviewed annually.
  • Each relevant calculator shows the parameter year and last updated date.
  • High-change topics (rates, limits) are refreshed more frequently.

4) Article workflow

  • Articles can be drafted with AI assistance and then reviewed for structure, clarity, and sourcing.
  • We remove or label claims that cannot be supported by sources.
  • We do not claim human authorship for AI-generated text.

5) Advertising and monetization

We may display ads or affiliate links to support the site. Sponsored placements never change calculator outputs. We prioritize clarity and user trust over ad density.
